NATIONAL SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS (NSQ) TRAINING PROGRAMMES

STATUS: National Professional Qualification

DURATION: 2 Semesters

VENUE: Abuja, Bauchi, Benin, Enugu, Kaduna, Kano, Lagos, Oshogbo

OBJECTIVE:

This course is designed to enable the student;

  • – Achieve professional qualifications based on work place knowledge and occupational skills competence in the Hospitality Travel and Tourism standard trades.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

This qualification covers 180-360 guided learning hours. The qualification is evidence based achieved on the bases of task performance at work place.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT AND AWARD OF QUALIFICATIONS

ITP Awarding body National Vocational Qualifications Framework:

Level 1:

  • – Candidates wishing to make an professional/occupational career  without the ability  to read and write can enrol into this level of the  programme.
  • – Educationally disadvantaged, non-certificated school drop-out and marginalized youth
  • – students about to graduate from secondary school system
  • – existing labour force – employed and unemployed
  • – tertiary education and skilled training
  • – current policies and programmes meant to address needs for skills training  in the economy

Level 2:

  • – Achievement of Level 1 qualification.
  • – Ability to read and write with numeracy knowledge
  • – Achieving relevant qualification in relevant occupational profession equivalent to Level 1

                qualification covering 18 Credit Units

Level 3:

–  Achieving Level 2 qualification.

– Achieving relevant qualification in relevant occupational profession equivalent to Level 1

     qualification covering 26 Credit Units

Level 1: Award in Front Office Operations; Food & Beverage Production; Food & Beverage Service; Food Safety; House Keeping Operations; Laundry and Dry Cleaning Service(180 Guided Learning Hours (GLH)

Level 2: Certificate in Front Office Operations; Food & Beverage Production; Food & Beverage Service; Food Safety; House Keeping Operations; Laundry and Dry Cleaning Service(260 Guided Learning Hours)

Level 3: Diploma in Front Office Operations; Food & Beverage Production; Food & Beverage Service; Food Safety; House Keeping Operations; Laundry and Dry Cleaning Service (360 Guided Learning Hours)

Modular Qualifications (Single Occupational Standard): ITP NVQ qualifications in various National Occupational Standards(NOS)including; Front Office Operations (Reservation services etc); Food & Beverage Production (Cookery Specialty practice, Pastry Specialty practice, Food Safety and Hygiene etc); Food & Beverage Service (Waiter, Banquette, outdoor catering services, Decorations, Event handling); House Keeping Operations; Laundry and Dry Cleaning Serviceand related Standards (20 Guided Learning Hours and above ).

Level 1: Award in Travel, Leisure and Tourism (Assistant Officer Level) (180 Hors)

Level 2: Certificate in Travel, Leisure and Tourism (Officer Level) (260 Hours)

Level 3: Diploma in Travel, Leisure and Tourism (Senior Officer Level) (360 Hours)

Modular Qualifications (Single Occupational Standard): ITP NVQ qualifications in various National Occupational Standards(NOS)including: Travel & Tourism Sales Representative;  Travel and Tourism Service Cashier; Travel and Tourism Quality Assurance Officer; Tourism Team Member;  Tourism Information Officer; Travel Service Reservation; Professional Transport Operations and Management; Travel, Leisure and  Tourism Officer; Business Travel Consultant; Event Operations and Management; Tour Guiding; Tour Operator; Leisure, Travel and Tourism Marketer; Leisure, Recreation  & Travel Advisor;Passenger And Visitor Check-In Assistant;  Travel, Leisure and Tourism Customer Service and Relations; Leisure Travel Consultant.
